Common Questions About Radar Charts

What is a radar chart?+

A radar chart (also known as a spider chart, web chart, or star plot) displays multivariate data on a two-dimensional chart with three or more quantitative variables represented on axes starting from the same point. Each variable is plotted along its own axis, and all axes are arranged radially around a center point at equal distances.

When should I use a radar chart?+

Radar charts are excellent for comparing multiple variables for a single item or comparing the same variables across multiple items. They are often used in sports to show player statistics (speed, strength, defense), in business to display performance metrics, or in product reviews to compare features. They help visualize the "shape" of the data and spot strengths and weaknesses at a glance.

What is the difference between a radar chart and a spider chart?+

There is no difference! "Radar chart," "spider chart," "star plot," and "web chart" are all different names for the same visualization. The name "spider chart" comes from the web-like appearance created by the grid lines connecting the axes.

Can I customize the design?+

Yes! You can customize the colors of the filled area (including transparency), the stroke color and width, and the dot size and color. You can also choose between a polygon (straight lines) or a circle grid shape. Our tool lets you tweak these settings in the "Style" tab to create a professional-looking chart that matches your brand or presentation.

Is my data secure?+

Absolutely. We process all data locally in your browser. We never store, view, or upload your data to any server. You can safely visualize sensitive performance data or personal metrics without worry.
